Effective Organizations
Please click through to the following link for more resources on creating effective organizations at this website address: http://forestpolicy.typepad.com/am/effective_organizations.html
To be effective long term, human organizations must be based on good principles, focused on appropriate purposes, environmentally fit, and adaptive.
This is no easy challenge, in part because many organizations are legacies of the past, based on bad or out-of-date principles, focused on wrong purposes, and neither environmentally fit nor adaptive.
An effective organization:
•is focused in its mission;
•allows its people to take risks and occasionally fail ("empowerment"'s more important flipside);
•is "flat"; it allows information to flow in both directions, usually through a lack of hierarchy;
•provides opportunities for advancement through initiative;
•has flexible rules and incentives;
•recognizes both teams and individuals for their accomplishments;
As we ponder what we might do differently we need to remember four rules:
Start where you are.
Use what you have (and what you can readily get your hands on).
Do what you can.
Pause to reflect and learn from your mistakes, from the mistakes of others, and from things/ideas/practices that work.
Additional Operational Rule(s):
•Reuse, Renew, Recycle

from Information Is Beautiful
have created this Left vs. Right concept map
to help explain the differences in political opinions.
They created two versions: One for the U.S. (top) and one for the World (below).
http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/leftvright_US.html
There are two versions with different colours: a US and a World version. This is because the US and Switzerland are the only countries in the world where red = right wing and blue = left wing.

Aries New Moon Treasure Mapping
Peggy Malnati writes in her blog, WalkSoftly2’s Blog, Commentary & Tools for Life’s Journey
"I read a really interesting astrology write-up last evening, March 26, 2009, by Tracy Cook. It was about today’s Aries New Moon — an event that occurs once a year when both the Sun and Moon are conjunct (in the same degree of the same sign at the same time) in Aries.
Many astrologers and metaphysicians consider that the true start of the new year — at least in a zodiacal sense — occurs not on 1 January when the Gregorian calendar changes, and not when the vernal equinox occurs (on or about 20/21 March), but when the Aries New Moon falls.
Anyway, the gist of Ms. Cook’s message was that each year the Aries New Moon is the perfect time to make a treasure map of what you want to manifest in your life in the coming 3-12 months. This is because the Aries New Moon is the start of the new zodiacal year and Aries rules (among other things) new beginnings and sight, so it becomes the perfect time for you to envision and out-picture what you want your life to look and feel like. (Any New Moon is great for doing something similar for the next 28-day Moon cycle.)..."

"They are made on Aries new moon, because that is the first sign of the zodiac. Aries is when you plant your seeds. It is the real beginning of the New Year. It should not be confused with the first day of spring, which is usually on March 19 or March 20. New moon means the sun and moon are in the same degree. For those who don't know much about astrology (which is totally okay) Aries is the sign of SIGHT. So, that's why it is so important to have pictures of what you want. You need to visualize it. Or if you don't do photos/pictures.. Put up words. It is just important for you to SEE THEM.
1-abundance
2-fame/reputation
3-relationship
4-family
5-health
6-creativity
7-self knowledge (and travel)
8-work
9-helpful people and angels."

Art of the Possible
I wanted to share a wonderful quote from a book by poet and activist, Adrienne Rich, Art of the Possible. (p.109)
In 1987 the late Supreme Court Justice William Brennan said that "formal reason severed from the insights of passion is a major threat to due-process principles. Due process asks whether government has treated someone fairly, whether individual dignity has been honored, whether the worth of an individual has been acknowledged. Officials can not always silence these questions by pointing to rational action taken according to standard rules. They must plumb their conduct more deeply, seeking answers in more complex equations of human nature and experience."

The Greatest Discovery
"The greatest discovery of the 19th century was not in the realm of the physical sciences, but the power of the subconscious mind touched by faith. Any individual can tap into an eternal reservoir of power that will enable them to overcome any problem that may arise. All weaknesses can be overcome, bodily healing, financial independence, spiritual awakening, and prosperity beyond your wildest dreams. This is the superstructure of happiness."

The pursuit of gratitude!
Mollyanna on Gratitude
When we plunge into gratitude there is no need to aspire to anything greater, because gratitude is gratitude.
And we can be in this state immediately without any equipment but a willing heart and perhaps a nudge from this Flower Essence mix: Gratitude, the new Venus Garden combination mix, that can show us the way to this state of being.
In addition to what Pollyanna would say, the truth is that gratitude is alchemy at its most miraculous.
